Queen of the Nerd-dom

That’s ONE way of dealing with it…

Okay, on FB this morning, someone had put the following video up. I thought you’d like to know, that’s ONE way of dealing with being bullied for being a nerd. I’ve always said “Thank You!” and moved on. People need to know that being a nerd is a GOOD thing. How many people who have been called nerds in this world, have gone on to create inventions that we use every day? How many of us have managed to grow up to be well-adjusted individuals who give back to society using our “geekiness.” (I know. I think I just made up that word…)

Will suggests pitying the other person. That’s all well and good. However, I’ve always been able to stop those individuals by saying simply “Thank you!” Then I smile as if I know something they do not.

Geeks and nerds are simply sexy in a way that most titled “Jocks” are not. You need to know that I have always been proud to be titled a “Nerd” or a “Geek.” I know I’m not that smart, but it feels good to hear others say that. We all have our hang-ups about given that title when we’re young, but if you can get past that and simply use the brains given to you, then you’re better off than those that let their brawn get the better of them.

On the flip-side of that coin, don’t my fellow geekers get up in the faces of those that have brawn. Yes, they may have muscles. However, remember, like Will said they may have things that THEY get excited about. Case in point this Guy, Frank from Opposite Worlds, is excited about being a NYC Firefighter and his family. He is also “REALLY jacked” as Emptyeye put it. Everyone on the show was trying to count him out and trying to push him out because of how crazy muscle he is. He’s actually a pretty smart individual. I have to admit, I thought he was just a “Dumb Jock” when I was first watching the show. Nope. He went up against some other “Smart Individuals” and came out the victor. He called it “Beast Mode,” but I just call it playing a smart game, and getting physical when he needed to. See at the beginning, the creators of the show didn’t want to let us know what people did for a living unless the person mentioned it many times. After awhile, they stopped caring. I think this kind of hurt Frank’s rep. People across America didn’t know he was a Fireman (which would have explained his ‘being jacked’ REALLY quickly), and jumped on the “he’s just a dumb jock” bandwagon. Stupid, stupid prejudiced Americans! Tricks are for Kids!

I pulled out Frank’s Exit Interview, as that was probably a good example. See what you see when you first look at the guy. Then move on to the next video. This is how Frank got to be the winner. By being smart about the last puzzle given him. If you don’t want to watch the whole 40+ minutes, you can always skip to 35:53. That is where the final challenge actually starts. The rest, is almost “Filler.” However, if you weren’t watching the series, picking up from the beginning will show you what the show was all about, and how both Frank and JR (the skinny brat that represented “the brains” in this equation, if you will) got to this point.

Frank’s Bio on SYFY.com: Frank is a former NYC police officer who was on the force during 9/11, and is a current firefighter. Gregarious and good-natured, Frank is a family man. He plays stay-at-home dad on his off days while his wife works. He grew up in Brooklyn, in a cash-strapped, traditional Italian Catholic family. Frank is extremely competitive, keeping a seven-day-a-week workout regimen.

So, my point with all this, is don’t be afraid to be who you are. People who are stupid enough to call your names don’t know you for the great person you are. Make sure you prove them wrong with the way you live your life!!!

Just 3 words…

More Car Drama…

Well, I thought about leaving it at that, but I’ll add a bit more about my week thus far. We picked up my new car on Monday. Getting to the point of picking it up was pretty drama-filled… You know, the usual signing drama…

See, here’s my new Baby, A Maroon Honda Accord:

Yesterday was my first day back at work after 5 days. I almost had a heart attack when the UPS driver came within inches of my back bumper while he was backing his truck in at work. If he had hit my new baby, heads would roll! The drivers fly in and out of our work parking lot, and this isn’t the first time I’ve heard people I work with complaining about this issue… Maybe I should call the UPS hub near us and complain. Maybe the drivers will stop flying from place to place. But, then again, perhaps not…

Let’s see. Other than car drama/new car stuff, my sister had her last dress fitting before the wedding. Sidenote, two months before your wedding, NO CHEESECAKE. This is according to the Dress-maker that was doing my sister’s dress-fixing. Just thought you’d all want to note that…

Did some knitting this week, as the usual. Been working on a few commissions, as well as a few hats for Cancer Patients. The Hat and half-scarf in pink are the commissions I’ve been working on. The other hats you see are for Cancer Patients. What do you think?

Mario’s been his usual charming self. He REALLY likes the circular toy his Grandma got him for Christmas. I have the proof…

Well, till next week folks!

Daww, It’s all Grow-ed Up…

As you can probably see, there have been a few changes around here lately. I’ve finally broken down and changed the Titles here as well as the Theme. It is a highly modified version of a free theme you can find at WordPress.com. You’ll also notice, I OWN this bitch now (Dreamsilver2112.com, that is). No more sharing the space with a web server who’s themes I felt I needed to keep. You know how it goes. My craving to branch out and take control of something in my life, especially when everything’s up in the air. (Another subject for another time, trust me) I needed more inspiration to keep posting and to keep things going. You know, the age-old Writer’s reasoning for imparting some drastic change in how they do things…

So, Speaking of posts, you’ll be happy to know that I FINALLY got to post #100 (as in, the one you’re reading…) after all this time. I wanted to do something a little different than just writing about my week. For the life of me, though, I had NO clear idea what I was thinking I wanted to do. I think I should write a bit of this and that. That’s been what the past few weeks of my life have been. I’ve been thinking pretty long and hard about what I wanted to put in this post. It’s the moment where you can’t help but think “Go Big, or Go Home!” I hope to go big, in this case. Let’s see if you can follow me to the end without getting REALLY bored…

The last post, I mentioned a dream I had. I realized that morning, that I hadn’t mentioned anything dream-like in a bit. It was very ironic, as this blog started out as a dream. A dream to reach out to potential readers and to inspire me to keep up with my writing. The realization that I hadn’t mentioned a dream here in awhile, also made me realize that I hadn’t really had a dream worth remembering in awhile. Been too tired, so some such shit to do. You know the excuses… I just think that all this worrying crap has made all of my creative juices go out the window (and out the doors, down the drain, and well, you get the picture).

I further realized that there have been many ideas that I’ve had since this blog’s inception that I have never really gotten around to. I started awhile back of doing odd reviews, marking differences between books and the movies that Hollywood has made from popular books. That was fun while it lasted. Some I gave up on, some I quite frankly grew bored of. I think I’ve decided that I want to try to keep up with some of those. I’ve been concocting a list of those that I want to do next, so you have something to look forward to over the next few months or so…

Whoa, Cool Dream!

Morning everyone!
Just wanted to tell you a little about the dream I had last night. ‘Cause this one I want to share. It’s too cool NOT to share. EE and I were at Compounce, and there was this new wooden rollercoaster that stretched out over the Lake. There was actually this ramp that made us jump over a break in the tracks, so that the Ferry could still go across. And the Rides people had everything timed out so that it could work where no one was using the tracks while the Ferry was scheduled to be under it. Then I realized that the Lake was open for swimming again… Hmm.

I told EE about it, and he says “That sounds pretty cool.”
Highly unlikely that it’ll be a thing, but “Dream Logic” as EE would say.

So, Compounce, get on that. I’ll be your first test subject, don’t you worry… 😉

Hello Friends!

Hi all! I’ve been working on a few projects this past week and a half. Knitting projects that are a little bit of something new. A hat while the larger project’s being made. Actually working on … finished a needlepoint too. I’ll get pictures up of them all when I can. One of the projects is a gift, so I don’t want to give it away yet. When I finally give it, I’ll put pics up, don’t you worry… Writing is going well too. Finally writing more than a few sentences/lists/etc. That’s really new, I know.

We’re finally in March, so that’s something…

I know it seems that I’m writing my blog like a journal entry recently, but it’s a way of letting you all know that I’m alive. Also, to let you know that I didn’t forget about you, considering all of the numerous projects I’ve been working on. Now that you know, back to the projects! See you soon!
