2018’s Stash Dash Is A Go!!!

Hi everyone! If you haven’t heard on my podcast, I’m throwing down for Stash Dash again this year.  The countdown is on!!!

This year, I’m just going to try to finish as many of my WIPs (Works In Progress) as I possibly can between May 25th and August 27th. I’m not going to throw in a set goal until the end. Don’t get me wrong. I’d LOVE to try to shoot for 15K again. But, I was noting that I was SUPER stressed the entire time. I’m not about that life this year. Sorry.

So, at last count, I have 48 WIPs. Too many. That’s what’s stressing me out the most. So, to help with this, I have come up with a list of projects I REALLY want to finish by the end of Stash Dash. I’ll list them here, and keep you updated on what I finish during that timeframe.

Fourteen’s Keen!

Here is another FO I needed to finish before Stash Dash. The co-worker I was making this from deserved to get this sooner rather than later. Her daughter is going through Dialysis and deserves to have something to cuddle with.

I called this project  “Spiked Punch Basket Blanket.” You’ll see why in a bit. I promise. I tried to be cute with this project name. We’ll see if you appreciate this as much as I did.

The pattern I used was one of my own. I based a baby blanket pattern on the weaving of a basket. It’s a simple pattern that I’ve used multiple times. If you are looking for the pattern, you can find it on Ravelry. I worked on this from February 16th until May 15th.

My co-worker’s daughter REALLY loves Purple. Which is a pretty good thing. I LOVE purple too. 😉 (like duh, if you’ve been reading  my blog for awhile…) So, I used 2 and a half skeins of Miss Babs Yowza skein in the colorway “Spiked Punch.” A total of 1,400 yards.

This was knit on a US 9 (5.5mm) Marblz circs needles.

LOVE how this came out, and the Co-worker REALLY liked that I finished this last Wednesday, and was able to get it to her so fast. 🙂

Until Next Time, Happy Crafting!

Lucky #13!

Hello everyone! I know it’s been awhile. I promise, I’ve been trying to finish things. I’ve been holding a few FO’s back until the end of this month (see upcoming post for the reason why).

So, here’s Lucky #13.   Here is what I called simply April’s DVD Socks.

I started this sock on April 1st. I finished the pair on April 24th. I absolutely LOVE how these knit up!

I used the “Toe-Up Socks With A Difference” by Wendy D. Johnson this month. I LOVE how easy the heel flap and gusset hug my feet!

I use a size US 1 (2.25mm) needles. 2 16 inch circs for the heels, toes, and cuffs. I also used a 9 inch circ for the rest of the socks.
I also used 281.8 yards of Desert Vista Dyeworks “Poodle Skirt” on their Viso base.

Until Next Time! Happy Crafting!

12’s On Par

So, I managed to get some work done on a long-standing goal in the last few days as well… You know, my goal of getting rid of most of my cotton stash which REALLY hurts my hands. As with last year, I have a goal of finishing at least 52 washcloths, if not more, by year’s end.
Started “2018’s Washcloths” at the beginning of the year. All 12 are done from the First Quarter, Which makes me extremely happy. This is a total of 720 yards I can count out of my stash, so that makes me even more excited to be done with these.
The last 5 (shown below) are staying here at the Silver/Emptyeye Household, while the others will be donated or given away as holiday gifts. There will be a full list of all of the cotton colors I’ll be using over the course of the year on my project page on Ravelry directly, in case you want to see all of them. Aren’t these AWESOME!!! Well, I think so, anyway…
The Pattern I’ve been using has been “Grandma’s Favorite Dish Cloth” by Ruth Slate. I have a constant number of 44 stitches that I increase to, then I start my decreased. With each washcloth, I will also be using one pair of 24 inch Marblz needles, size US 6 (or a 4.0 mm).  Wish me luck with the Second Quarter’s Goal!
Until Next Time,
Happy Crafting!

Eleven’s Heaven!

So, I can officially say I’ve started another craft. FO #11 for the year is a simple Grannie Square, but I’ll call this a win.  No matter how wobbly it came out. At least I tried, right?
I simply called this “My First Grannie Square.”
I Crocheted this square on a 5.0 mm (H) size hook, using some of my Red Heart Super Saver Solids stash. Particularly in the “Royal” colorway.
This took me from March 13th to the 20th.
Wish me luck with more Crochet! 🙂
Until Next Time, Happy Crafting!!!

Ten’s Cooked!

So, I finished  another pair of socks this month! I simply called this project “Waffles ROCK!!!” You’ll see why in a bit. Let’s just take a quick moment to appreciate the awesome colors of this one, yeah?   I can’t even with the way these came out. Not quite matchy-matchy, but they’re for me. So, it doesn’t matter one bit! 🙂

I used the Blueberry Waffle Socks by Sandy Turner and it took me from March 1st to the 21st.  This was knit up on US 2 – 2.75 mm DPNs for the patterned part and the heels. But then I switched to 9 inch circs for the gusset and rest of the foot to the toes. Then I used two 16 inch circs.

This year, I’ve been trying to participate in another Self-Striping KAL that TheKnitGirllls have been hosting. This month there were a few dyers that I had in my stash, but I decided to go with Fibernymph Dye Works. Specifically, her Bounce base, in the colorway Rockabilly bride.  I LOVED this colorway SOOO much!!!
I couldn’t wait to wear them, so I wore them to work yesterday. They kept my feet SOOO warm, and because the cuff is a bit high, I was able to enjoy the (hopefully) last cold snap of the year. Anyway, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Until Next time, Happy Crafting!

#9’s FINE!!!

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven’t been by recently. I’ve been kind of busy trying to finish things. In fact, I have a series of 4 things. I’ll have 4 separate FO posts that will be released today. Sorry about that, but it couldn’t be helped. Either way, I hope you enjoy the things I finished as much as I did! Let me start off with what I’m simply calling “March DVD Socks” for the Fourth Annual Desertvista Dyeworks Sock KAL. What do you think of the colors guys?    I’ll included what the color looked like in the skein too, so you can see this wonderfulness from ALL angles!!! 🙂

I actually finished this pair pretty quick. The whole pair was knit between March 1st and the 15th. In fact, the first sock was done by the 4th. The second took a bit to get started. But, once I did, it FLEW off my size US 1 – 2.25 mm 9 inch/16 inch circs!

The pattern for these socks was Toe-Up Socks With a Difference by Wendy D. Johnson. I love this pattern! 🙂 I’m not quite ready to move on to another heel yet. You’ll have to tune into next month’s FO posts to find out what I mean…

Anyway, like I mentioned above, I used Desert Vista Dyeworks’ Viso base in the “Babushka” colorway.  So, with this FO, I can check another Holiday gift off my list!  This makes me happy too! 🙂

So, this is it for this FO. Please stay tuned for the other Three.  Can’t wait to see you there!

Until Next Time, Happy Crafting!
