Writing #4

Hello again everyone! The fourth thing I’ve finished already this year I called “Pooh Loves Dumbledore.”

This project, I entered in the Desert Vista Dyeworks (DVD) Fifth Annual Sock Club KAL that Susan has. I used her Viso base in the “Winnie the ZomBody Pooh” colorway. I also used the “Socks for Dumbledore” pattern by Crazy Sock Lady Designs and size 1 (US) needles. I really love how the pattern plays with the yarn base. Emptyeye did too. Good thing these are for him for the Holidays. Yes, he knows. That’s why I can say it now. He’ll forget by the time the Holidays come along, trust me… 😉

I also entered it in the HPKCHC as part of my Magical Journalism class. This got me 36 points into the Cup. I got a badge for entering this project, too! 🙂

Cozying Up To #3

Hello again everyone! The third project that I finished this year, I called “Unicorn Cozy.”

I knit the Unicorn Drink Cozy pattern by Kristen McDonnell for the Care Of Magical Creatures class for the HPKCHC, using 60 yards of random acrylic scraps on size 8 (US) needles. I’m sorry. I honestly don’t know what brand/colors I used. They just “looked right” together so I chose them from my stash.  Lol…

This project got me a total of 19 points for the Cup, as the prompt was something that represented Unicorns and a few other Magical creatures. Guess which one I chose? lol.

Until Next Time, Happy Crafting!

Lining Up #2

Hello again everyone!

The second thing that I finished this year, I called “One…Singular Sensation.”

I needed a quick project for my Arithmancy class for the HPKCHC, so I found the “Music Note Cloth” by Ezcareknits and knit it with Madelinetosh Tosh Merino DK “Taurus” (green), some purple scraps, and size 7 (US) straight needles. I don’t remember the dyer of the second yarn color, I’m sorry…  Basically, the prompt for the project was a singular item to be crafted. It was approved by my house Professor and I received a total of 20 points. I’ve also been collecting badges as I go along. Here are the ones I got for this project.

Until Next Time, Happy Crafting!

Here We Go Again…

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful 2018. I decided in December of last year that I wanted to do a 2019 series for the things I finish in my Knitting life. In fact, I will also be entering them in an Along that I am helping host called “The Great Podcaster Craft Along 2019.” I’ll make a list of all of my FO posts in a page that you can find in the sidebar on the left-hand side. This way you can follow along with this series, if you so choose.

With all that being said, January has been an interesting month for my finishing mojo. Nevermind the beginning part of February.  As a fair warning , I have a total of 11 posts going up today. Sorry if you get a lot in your feed today. But, I think it’s worth it. We’ll have to see. According to Knitmeter, I’ve finished a total of 5,413 yards so far this year. I’ve surprised myself, trust me…

Without further ado, let’s start with the first thing I finished this year.

I started this project 10/5/16 and called it “Simply Aware.” Originally, this project was started to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness month. I used size 2 (US) needles and three colors of Premier Yarns Cotton. I used “Cotton Candy,” “Baby Pink,” and “Bright Peach.” This got me a total of 795.7 yards.

The combination of the cotton and the size needle were the reason why I kept delaying working on it. For a point of reference, the pattern “LaLa’s Simple Shawl” by LaLa (of The Knitgirllls fame) calls for size 10 needles and bulky wool.  I’m not really a fan of cotton, in general. This cotton was better, but the needles made it take forever… I worked on it maybe one section or two at a time over the course of 2 years, skipping at least 6 months in between times I worked on it.

The reason why I started working on it again? Well, I entered the Harry Potter Knit & Crochet House Cup (HPKCHC for short, and what I will be calling it from now on). Basically, the HPKCHC revolves around the Harry Potter universe.

I’m in Hufflepuff, and every FO will win me “Imaginary” Points into the Cup just like the movies/books. I need to turn in 1 project per month to stay a Hufflepuff.  So, you’ll notice that most of my FO’s this year will be revolved around the HPKCHC until at least March. I entered this project into a Detention OWL (yes, like the books/movies) with a bunch of projects that had been on my needles and stalled out for years. In future posts, I’ll just include the Class or OWL that my FOs will be entered into so that way you are all aware. Either way, this pushed me to finish the last section of this shawl by January 3rd.

Until Next Time! Happy Crafting!

From Goodreads: Favorite Quote from the Afterward. These are Laurell K. Hamilton’s words, not my own… “When I was a little girl, younger than my daughter is now, I learned that you don’t stand up to the bad guys because you think you’ll win. You stand up because it’s the right thing to do. You stand up for those weaker than you, which at that time in my life meant younger than me. You put yourself between them and harm, not because you’re sure you won’t get hurt, but because you’ve decided that to sit and watch them come to harm is wrong, and you cannot merely sit and watch evil. There comes a time when you have to step up and be willing to take some damage, because it’s the right thing to do. ”

And Finally, #68!

Hello again everyone! I have 1 final FO for 2018! I hope you’ve had as much fun with this as I have this year. This makes 68 total FO’s for the sake of this blog.

This last FO I called “Mixed-Up, Fall-Ish.” I finished this pair of socks in 16 days, which is AMAZING for me! I used the “Vanilla is the New Black” by Vanessa Fletcher. I also used 4 different colors in this “scrappy socks.”

  1. Hooker’s Corner, Fingering “Hot Damn”

  2. Hooker’s Corner, Fingering “Honey Bear”

  3. Woolen Boon, Fingering “Copper Boom”

  4. Whimzee Stitches Yarn Co., Standard Sock “Autumn Forest Walk”

I LOVE the way that everything worked up together. I can wear these in my boots, and I can’t wait to wear them. What do you all think?

Thank you for following me on my journey this year. I REALLY do appreciate it!

Until the next Post, Happy Crafting!
